Up and coming R&B artist Tina Mazyck (pronounced “Mah-Zeek”) has released her very first EP, "Honestly".
Hailing from The Bronx, Tina spent her childhood harmonizing with her friends in park tunnels, writing songs, and then running home to record those “sessions” onto her video camera. From the time she was 12 years old, Tina looked for ways to perform. First, it was in the staircases of high school and then open mic nights and then with a performance group.
It was clear, early on, that Tina was destined to be a singer but the question was – what kind? Even though she was receiving praise for her R & B performances, including from the venerable Ms. Jones on New York’s Hot 97 Radio, Tina decided to pursue her first love – opera! For three years, Tina studied opera and musical theater before feeling an urge to return to her roots in R&B and Pop.
In 2016, Tina focused her efforts on putting out her music through her online platforms. “It took me a while to be comfortable on social media because I had extreme anxiety when putting videos of me singing out into the world. Now I do it constantly – through Instagram or YouTube. This increased creative output culminated in Tina releasing her first EP, Mazyck, in 2016, with all songs written and arranged by Tina.
“The majority of my songs come to me in my dreams, developing melody and sometimes lyrics on the spot”. Tina’s first single, “Sweet Between,” was licensed for the film War Paint at the Sundance Film Festival. From there, this single became a sync favorite, exploded Tina’s YouTube views significantly, and led to that song and others being played on the radio all across the world. Influenced by artists as varied as Mariah Carey, Patti Labelle, Rihanna, Aaliyah, and Beyonce.
The new EP combines R&B and hints at alternative pop tracks. Stream below!
