R&B singer Jay Lyriq pays homage to his wife and other strong women around the world who support their men with his latest smooth, stripped-down, soulful Spanish guitar ballad, "Keep Loving You".
Throughout the song, Lyriq professes his love for his life partner, thanking her and pledging his continued support of her endeavors, singing lyrics like, “When we stick together we can weather any weather, baby you bring out the best in me.” Showcasing his vocal range, the Tallahassee native describes the song as a “testament to the women who stick it out with us and are that voice of our highs and our lows.”
Lyriq introduced the song to his wife in a romantic way he explains. “She was taking a bath, she had the candles lit in the bathroom, she was relaxing. I was like I wrote you a song. She said, ‘Well let me hear it. So I sang it for her right then,” he says. “I played the beat and I just sang it for her. I tell you, she lit up. It was like she was going to cry. She said, ‘You really love me.’ I said, ‘Yeah, I do, even though you get on my nerves, I do,’” he says with a laugh. “This is on my Black love stuff.”
Though Jay typically does not let her hear his songs until after they have been recorded and mixed, but he seized the moment.
“Keep Loving You” follows Jay's February release of “No More,” a hip hop and R&B collaboration with Tay Dizm from their forthcoming Jay & Tay project.
Born James Cohen, Jr., the Tallahassee, Fl native has performed alongside T-Pain on the BET Awards, BET’s 106 & Park, The Jay Leno Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and worked with numerous other platinum producers (Jim Johnson, Dave “Preach” Balfor and Jimi Kendrix) and major recording artists Trey Songz, Musiq Soulchild, Raheem DeVaughn, Flo Rida, among others.
