Fresh from releasing the newest single "Lucky Star", off the now released On Earth, and in Heaven album, R&B crooner Robin Thicke dropped the full album today February 12, 2021, another reminder that the music icon still got it.
Talking about Lucky Star Thicke said, "This is the last song I wrote for the album and it’s also the first track on the album. Once we had this song I knew the album was complete. You know that feeling you have when you’re all alone but you know that you’re not alone. That’s what “Lucky Star” is about. That presence in your life that holds you tight, gives you hope and lights the way. My father and Andre Harrell are my Lucky Stars". Lucky Star followed Thicke's late January release, "Beautiful".
On Earth, and in Heaven was released via Thicke’s imprint Lucky Music, in partnership with EMPIRE. The highly personal album digs into the immense loss Thicke has experienced over the last five years, including the deaths of his father Alan Thicke (2016) and his mentor Andre Harrell of Uptown Records (2020).
“When I looked over my album notes, the phrase that kept coming to mind was ‘On Earth, and in Heaven’ and I realized that’s what I’m singing about: the people who aren’t here and the people who are here that I love and made me who I am,” Thicke said in a press release. “This music is the sunshine coming out after the rain.”
On Earth, and in Heaven follows Thicke’s 2014 album, Paula, which was dedicated to his now ex-wife Paula Patton. The album includes Thicke’s previously shared tracks “That’s What Love Can Do” and “Forever Mine.”
